My full name is Ana Jessica Kim, but I go by my middle name "Jessica." This is my fifth year of teaching first grade. Although I have experience teaching various grade levels, first grade is by far my favorite! The children are slightly more mature than the kindergarteners, but still young enough to be impressionable. As their teacher, I want to reach them at an early age. I want to foster a love for learning that stays with them, even after they move on to middle school, high school, and beyond.
For those of you who know me well, I have an extreme case of OCD. But my self-diagnosed "disorder" helps me think systematically and keeps me organized as a classroom teacher. This allows me to create an environment that maximizes students' learning. My main goal of writing this blog is to help teachers stay organized in their management and teaching, particularly for first-year teachers. I hope my ideas here spark your own ideas that you can apply to your classroom.
